Description
- You are a born hero, you will fight to survive the evil worlds of the grand lizard.
- To move use the run joystick, take careful aim, then fire your laser at all enemies. You can only fire in 4 directions
- You do not lose a life, if your partner shoots you. But you will lose a life, if your enemies shoot you.
- After you are born, you have temporary immunity until you move or your creation is complete.
- Beware of the higher levels, anyone below you can take advantage of you.
- The enemies are the cyclops: Dohrt (500 pts), Zohrt (700) and Mohrt (900). After you shoot them with your laser, tag their souls, or follow them into the grand lizard's mouth to fight the hot and ruthless souls.
- The Nymph: With a captured soul, you give life and free the Nymph locked in stone. Her sexy flight will tranquilize your enemies.
- Tankov: You must destroy his treads from a lower level, and his turret from the same level.
- If you must panic step on the launch pad, it will eject you out of trouble.
- The Boom Bird: He patrols above, and only a few know how to deal with him.
Trivia
Development of Inferno was Initiated under the title "Karma"
The Grand Lizard pinball machine is the only successful incarnation of what was intended to be a series of properties based around the Grand Lizard.
If a player loses a life in the act of completing a wave, the lost life is ignored.
Instructions
Inferno's maze layout is somewhat similar to Crystal Castles, but without the wide changes in maze height. There seems to be only three or four "heights" of the maze, which the player can reach via small stairways. Players or creatures on a lower level can shoot players or creatures on a higher level, but the reverse is not true.
Tankov enemies require shots both from a lower level to disable the treads, and from the same level to disable the gun.
Touching a siren statue will release the siren which will fly across the screen, stunning all the enemies temporarily.
If you follow a shade into the mouth of the Grand Lizard, it will trigger a bonus "Inferno Wave" in which small imp-like enemies will rush you as the maze is consumed by fire.
This Machine
Extremely rare Williams game designed by Python Anghelo. This cabinet was found in Ohio, converted to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Deconversion was a lengthy process which was covered on a thread on KLOV. This machine needed new paint, new artwork, used a Joust II PCB, and had a new CPO from Galloping Ghost. It does have an original marquee, which was graciously provided by a good friend.
The only original internal parts were the monitor, power block, and AC harness.
It is in need of proper blaster-style joysticks to round out the restoration.
